C600AD as a Wind display
The C600AD connected to the ATM600 will display the Apparent Wind Angle. AWA. digitally on the large central display and graphically on the annulus, Apparent Wind Speed. AWS, is shown numerically on the lower display. You may also select magnified display of Apparent Wind Angle (ZOOM). NB. the instrument will automatically switch between a Close Hauled or Downwind view.
When boat speed information is available on the monocable, from a speed transducer. the C600AD can display the True Wind Angle, TWA, on the large central display and on the annulus. True Wind Speed, TWS, is shown on the lower display Also, you may select Velocity Made Good. VMG, on the lower numerical display
If compass information is also available on the system the C600AD can show the True Wind Direction, TWD, which is the direction of the wind relatiVe to Magnetic North. Other functions available are: Displaying the maximum Apparent Wind Speed recorded (MAX); and an Alarm function when the wind speed rises above a selected level (ALARM).
C600AD as a Depth display
The advanced software of the Active Speed/Depth Transducer Module constantly filters out depth readings from your transducer which are due to water turbulence or marine debris, giving optimum accuracy In the range 0.4 to 180 M (1.3 to 600 Ft) above hard bottom, displaying the result in figures and on an adjustable digital annulus.
Other functions available are a Deep (DEEP) and Shallow (SHALLW) alarm, and an Anchor Watch (ANCHR) which will sound an alarm when drifting into shallower or deeper water when at rest.
N.B. To ensure data is accurate the transducer must be installed correctly. Please refer to the instructions supplied with your transducer.
C600AD as a Speed display
The advanced software of the Active Speed/Depth Transducer Module constantly processes the speed and water temperature readings from the transducer, displaying the result In figures and on an adjustable digital annulus.
Other functions available are Average Speed (AVG) and Maximum Speed (MAX), countdown to race start (GUNS) which automatically resets and starts the elapsed time clock (ETIME) and the race distance trip (TRIP1)
N.B. To ensure data is accurate the transducer must be installed correctly. Please refer to the instructions supplied with your transducer.
C600AD as a Compass display
The C600AD will display the course currently being steered on the large central display and visually on the digital annulus.
Functions available are: Display of average heading during your current triP (AVG): Disabling and enabling the analogue rose (ROSE). Visual feedback to allow present heading to be followed (STEER): artering chosen heading (FIX).
The other steering aids are the course memories (MEM1 to MEM8): The course memories allow you to store more commonly used headings as they are steered (STORE), and recalilhem as required wrth a few simple keystrokes (RECALl). Th,s is useful for labour intensive exercises such as leaving a regularly used harbour or long-haul tacking.
Compass deviation caused by disturbances to Ihe earth's magnetic field near a compass can be corrected by two methods; one automatic Ihe other manual (AUTO and DEV under CAL). On completion of Ihese procedures the ATC600 will correct all future readings.
For the unit to display True readings you must enter the local magnetic Variation (VAR under CAL). Variation is Ihe difference between magnetic and true North caused by geographical disturbances. iI's value is given on all navigation charts.
